MOTIVATION

MARK 1

Jesus was never moved by the urgency. He was not caught up in the mindset of crisis mode.  He only moved when He saw His heavenly Father moving. He only acted as Holy Spirit led Him. Perfect harmony. Perfect Unity. He saw the masses and was lead by compassion to minister to them.   (vs.32-39)

No one has or will ever have a more effective healing ministry than Jesus but He was not lead to heal or minister by the obvious need.  His motivation came from a deep knowing of His true purpose on earth and out of that purpose He ministered.  He was able to look past the need and see the heart of each. He was capable of seeing the purpose of the Father in each person and to minister into that purpose in order to draw that person into the fullness of their calling.  So very different than what we see in many healing ministries of today, but so much more effective. So much more pure.  So much more holy.

His every move was to fulfill His purpose on earth.  The great Intercessor, the mighty Savior, the awesome Lord.  His life was a picture of what life on earth should look like as a believer:  To be motivated by the compassion of Holy Spirit, not the urgency of man.  For even after Simon and the others found Him the next day and urged Him to come back to those He had ministered to the day before, He would not.  Instead He headed to other towns to teach those who had not yet heard the good news He was sent to deliver.  He headed straight to the next place that Holy Spirit led Him to go. Why?  Is it because He no longer cared about the people He had spent time in ministry with the day before. No. It seems He again was looking out with eyes of compassion to see those who had still not heard.  He was motivated with compassion for those that were still lost and need a Great Shepherd, a Deliverer. (vs.39-41)

Throughout all Galilee He went, casting out demons as He preached.  (Demons keep people from being free enough to move in the truth of what their hearts are longing for.  They must be cast out in order to give that person a choice to choose righteousness and not be stuck in the bondage of evil.  Deliverance must be walked out. Jesus always gave the person being set free an act to do in order to begin to live out the freedom they have just entered into. Jesus had the leper to go show himself to the priest and fufill the laws laid out by Moses as a testimony.) His purpose was to preach the news that the kingdom of God was at hand. (vs.14)

I have come to see that urgency is a motivator of man but compassion is the motivator of Holy Spirit.  My heart is to be lead by compassion. I want Holy Spirit to be my motivation for all I do in this life. My desire to live a life free of the bondages that keep me from walking out the freedom Jesus has given Himself to bring to me.  What about you?  What is your motivation?
